Habitats

By revisiting the landfalls of the Endeavour today we can get an insight in the patterns of global change and the impact of people over the intervening 230 years.

James Cook's had been ordered to first observe an astronomical event from the newly discovered King Georges Island (Tahiti) and then to search for the rumoured great southern landmass Terra Australis Incognita. This mission took the Endeavour and her scientists on a circumnavigation of the world, visiting some of the most diverse habitats, including many places previously unexplored by Europeans
