Welcome to newEndeavour a modern journey to revisit the landfalls made by Captain James Cook during his famous first Pacific voyage in HMS Endeavour (1768-1771).
The project aims to gain new insights into the voyage, to explore the consequences of the voyage on these locations and to gather contemporary perspectives on the voyage legacy.
In response to the beautiful botanial art of the original voyage newEndeavour is creating a digital flora of plant images from the landfalls. Images that are of science interest but also just delightful to explore.
The next development on the newEndeavour site will be a mechanism to explore the geography and habitats of the voyage locations in more detail.
Watch out for development of the journal that will grow into an exploration of the original voyage and the recent reencounter.
